Vadivel Suresh, the Badulla District Parliamentarian and General Secretary of the National Plantation Workers Association has urged the Sri Lankan government to take legal actions without any discrimination against those involved in racist activities against Tamils and Muslims.
Some people are spreading communal hatred in the country to derive political milage, he said.
The new regional office of the Sri Lanka National Plantation Union was opened yesterday in Nuwara Eliya.
Speaking to the media at this event, Vadivel Suresh said that attempts to create discord among the Tamil-speaking people were just a daydream.
He also said that action should be taken to change the collective agreement on plantation workers’ wages.
